It was Friday afternoon, which meant one thing:
THE FIRST EVER WEEKEND MEGA-SLEEPOVER.
Ethan, Ray, Amy, and Lucy had decided
that every weekend they would rotate houses.
This week?
Ethan’s house.
A place of…
• zero rules
• unlimited snacks
• two cats with questionable morals
• and Ethan himself, which was already a problem.
🐾 THE ENTRANCE: TWO CATS, NO
PEACE
Ray pushed open the front door and
immediately—
PFOOF!
A blur of orange fur shot past him,
skidding across the tiles like a motorcycle.
“OH MY GOSH—WHAT WAS THAT?” Ray yelled.
“That’s Sunny,” Ethan said proudly. “She
sprints for no reason. She’s training for the Olympics.”
A second blur, this time grey and silent
like a ninja ghost, slithered under Amy’s backpack.
“And that one?” Lucy squeaked.
“Hana,” Ethan said. “She watches
everyone. Judging. Planning.”
Hana blinked once.
Amy backed away slowly.
Lucy whispered, “She knows my secrets.”
🧃 SNACK TIME (AKA RAY’S
DOWNFALL)
Ethan’s mom brought out snacks.
“Kids, I got chips, sodas, cookies—”
Ray grabbed a soda, cracked it open,
and—
SUNNY LEAPED.
Directly onto Ray’s shoulder.
Ray shrieked, soda flew into the air,
Ethan tried to catch it, missed, Lucy grabbed a towel but tripped, Amy screamed
because she thought Sunny was a raccoon, and Hana watched from the sofa like:
…pathetic humans.
After the chaos settled, the living room
was a battlefield of spilled juice, crumbs, and cat hair.
Ray was on the floor.
Sunny sat on his chest like she owned
him.
“I think she chose you,” Ethan said.
“I DON’T WANT TO BE CHOSEN,” Ray cried.
