Chapter 6: The School Dance Disaster
Amy was crowned emcee for the school dance. Ray and Ethan volunteered as DJs.
This was a mistake.
“Bro, how do we make the beat drop?” Ethan asked.
Ray shrugged. “I dunno. Maybe drop something heavy?”
So they dropped the speaker.
It smashed, sparked, and played one last distorted note before dying.
Amy ran over, furious. “You idiots! That was the only sound system!”
Ray scratched his head. “Guess we’ll just sing, then.”
Ethan grabbed the mic and started screeching what he claimed was a song.
Amy yanked the mic away. “Stop! You sound like a microwave having an emotional breakdown.”
Then, of course, the disco ball fell from the ceiling—because Ray had tied it up with a shoelace.
The principal screamed, the lights went out, and the sprinklers activated. Amy just stood in the chaos, whispering, “I hate my life.”
Chapter 7: Operation Impress Amy
One day, Ray and Ethan decided they liked Amy. Like, really liked her.
So, naturally, they tried to impress her—with a magic show.
“Ladies and gentle-Amy,” Ray announced in the school courtyard, “behold! The disappearing act!”
Ethan climbed into a cardboard box. “When I count to three, he’ll vanish!”
Ray counted. “One! Two! Three!”
Then he accidentally knocked the box off the table. It rolled down the hill, into the fountain, and floated away.
Amy sighed. “Well, he did disappear. Permanently, I hope.”
Five minutes later, a drenched Ethan returned, holding a dead goldfish. “Did I do it?”
Amy blinked. “Yeah. You disappeared the fish’s will to live.”
