π§ LLoC Writing Tricks — “DECEPTICON ORIENTATION DAY: HOW WE PAY RENT AND SAVE CATS”
✏️ a 6-part creative writing framework that helps students learn story-building skills step by step. Each “trick” teaches one essential element — from crafting vivid sentences to creating believable characters and hilarious dialogue.
✏️ 1. Building Better Sentences —
Comedic Juxtaposition
What it means:
The story places serious topics next to ridiculous ones, creating humor through
contrast.
From the story:
“Now we cover a very important topic… how we finance all of this.”
Try it:
Write a sentence introducing something very serious (like a military briefing),
then reveal a funny or unexpected topic.
π§ 2. Character Magic —
Consistent Personality Reactions
What it means:
Each character reacts in ways that match their personality, making them
predictable in a funny way.
From the story:
Ray: “BRO YOU FIX POTHOLES?!”
Lucy: “This is so weird.”
Amy: “Heroic act. Needs more public recognition.”
Try it:
Take one surprising event and show how three different characters react
differently.
π 3. Description &
Imagery — Visual Storytelling Through Screens
What it means:
Instead of long explanations, the story uses holograms and displays to visually
show information.
From the story:
“The hologram showed Soundwave gently retrieving a tiny kitten from a 50-meter
tree at 3 a.m.”
Try it:
Describe information being shown on a screen, hologram, or projection rather
than explaining it directly.
π 4. Plot & Story
Flow — Informational Comedy Structure
What it means:
The chapter is structured like a presentation or orientation session, with
clear sections guiding the reader.
From the story:
“SECTION 1 — HOW DECEPTICONS MAKE MONEY”
“SECTION 3 — DECEPTICON OPERATIONS”
Try it:
Write a story scene structured like a presentation, orientation, or instruction
manual.
π 5. Dialogue & Humor
— Deadpan Authority Figures
What it means:
Serious characters calmly saying ridiculous things creates strong comedic
effect.
From the story:
“We rescue cats at night. It is our most important mission.”
Try it:
Write a line where a powerful or serious character explains something silly as
if it is extremely important.
π§ 6. Creativity &
Critical Thinking — Villain Reputation vs Reality
What it means:
The story explores how characters are misunderstood by the world.
From the story:
“The world never knows we do it. They assume ‘the wind did it.’”
Try it:
Write a scene where a character secretly does good things but nobody believes
it.
⭐ LLoC Challenge (Bonus)
Write one more job the Decepticons secretly do to
help humans (something funny but surprisingly useful).
