The hall dimmed.

A man in a lab coat rolled out a cart with a watermelon strapped in wires.

He spoke like he’d binge-watched Mark Rober videos every night for 20 years.

“Hello students! Science is AWESOME. Especially when things explode. SAFELY. Mostly.”

He pressed a button.

The watermelon launched into the air and vaporized in a brilliant, juicy explosion.

Students gasped.
He grinned.

“Don’t worry. That was only the introductory one. Today’s real lesson involves pressure differentials, vacuum chambers, and possibly the fire alarm.”

Ray whispered,
