It was Saturday evening.
After surviving the two-cat apocalypse at Ethan’s house, the
squad marched to Ray’s apartment like exhausted soldiers returning from battle.
Ethan: “Do you think your house is… safer?”
Ray: “Of course! My house is peaceful! Calm! Quiet!”
Cherry the bird, from inside the house:
“SKWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”
Lucy: “...That sounded like a fire alarm.”
Amy: “Or a demon.”
Ethan: “Yup. We’re dead.”
Ray sighed.
“That’s Cherry. She’s… energetic.”

CHERRY ATTACK MODE
Ray opened the door.
Cherry, a tiny bright-yellow bird, took one look at the
guests and IMMEDIATELY decided:
These people must be DESTROYED.
She blasted out of her cage like a missile.
Direct flight path: Ethan’s face.
Ethan: “NO NO NO—DEFENSIVE FORMATION!!”
He ducked, tripped over Ray’s shoes, and Cherry did a
high-speed drive-by above his head, screeching triumphantly.
Ray shouted,
“CHERRY NO—WE TALKED ABOUT THIS!!”
Cherry: “SKWEEEEEE!!”
Lucy hid behind Amy.
Amy used Lucy as a shield.
Ethan crawled across the floor like he was in a war movie.
